Unable to connect phpMyAdmin

  • First check MYSQL is running or not. If it is running and you are still getting error then follow next step.
  • If you have changed MySQL password then go to /path/to/Ampps/ampps/data folder open my.conf and check password is right or not. If password is right and you are still getting the error then you need to reset MySQL password.
  • Use following to reset MySQL password.

For Windows

  • Open command prompt and run following command.
TASKKILL /F /IM mysqld.exe
cd /path/to/Ampps/mysql/bin
mysqld.exe --skip-grant-tables
  • Open one more command prompt and continue with following commands.
cd /path/to/Ampps/mysql/bin
mysql -u root
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
USE mysql
UPDATE user SET Password = PASSWORD('mysql') WHERE Host = 'localhost' AND User = 'root';
quit;
  • Go to /path/to/Ampps/ampps/data folder open my.conf
  • Erase it, type mysql and save it.
  • Restart MySQL

For Linux and Mac

  • Open Terminal and run following command.
cd /path/to/Ampps/mysql/bin
sudo killall mysqld
cd /path/to/Ampps/mysql/bin
./mysqld --skip-grant-tables
  • Open one more Terminal and continue with following commands.
mysql -u root
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
USE mysql
UPDATE user SET Password = PASSWORD('mysql') WHERE Host = 'localhost' AND User = 'root';
quit;
  • Go to /path/to/Ampps/ampps/data folder open my.conf
  • Erase it, type mysql and save it.
  • Restart MySQL
